Facebook

Facebook: "The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails. ~William Arthur Ward"
Having frequently been called a pessimist, when I would suggest that 'adjust[ing] the sails' might be necessary, this quote struck home as I read it this morning. A woman with a history of a difficult childhood, who struggled through adolescence, to attend university and become a parent to two beautiful daughters at a young age, I know about and understand the need to constantly 'adjust the sails." The winds of life change, and one's expectations shift with the winds. Although there may be a goal in the distance, the path towards it may require many adjustments as the journey continues.

My Muse . . .

Dark, swirling, bittersweet brew,
a muse that I purchase regularly
served up double strength.
Will it bring words?
Will they make sense as they pour from my head
to the lined paper notebook before me?
Ah, but who cares?
This elixir brings
a lightness of Spirit
that no other thing does.
My daily Prozac at work.
